US Open GP Gold badminton-2011

The US Open-2011 (Yonex OCBC US Open Grand Prix Gold) is scheduled to be held at Orange County badminton club, at Orange County in California, USA from 11th to 16th Jul-2011.

The tournament is a good opportunity for badminton fans in the US to watch some of their favorite world badminton stars in live action.

In the men's singles, the current world no.4 Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia is the top seed, followed by Jin Chen (China), Tien Minh Nguyen (Vietnam), and Boonsak Ponsana (Thailand) who are all top 10 world badminton players.

Indian fans can look forward to cheering P. Kashyap who is seeded 12th in the tournament, as well as Chetan Anand, RMV Guru Sai Dutt and Arvind Bhat all of whom have got a direct entry into the main draw of the US Open-2011.

In the women's singles, world no.5 Tine Baun of Denmark is the top seed, and is followed by Shao Chieh Cheng (Taiwan), Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (Thailand), and Xuerui Lee (China).

Local badminton star Rena Wang of USA is pitted against 3rd seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand, in the first round of the tournament.

The men's doubles, women's doubles, and the mixed doubles events, also have participation from some of the world's best badminton players.
