Indonesia Open-2011 Super Series Premier

4th seeded Saina Nehwal started her Indonesia Open Super Series Premier-2011 campaign today with a comfortable straight sets victory over Linda Zechiri of Bulgaria defeating her 21-12, 21-10.

Saina is up against Petya Nedelcheva also of Bulgaria in the next round. Petya got past Larisa Griga of Ukraine in the first round in a match that lasted for 3 sets.

Saina Nehwal is the lone Indian woman participant at the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier-2011 badminton tournament that is being held at Jakarta in Indonesia. Indonesia has been Saina Nehwal's favorite hunting ground for quite some time now, and she usually gets a lot of support from Indonesian badminton fans. Saina is also the defending champion, having won this prestigious event last year in 2010. It will be interesting to see how she performs in the next rounds of the Indonesian Open-2011.

In a surprise result in the women's singles event, 2nd seed Xin Wang of China was knocked out in the first round of the tournament by Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei 15-21, 21-15, 21-19. Top seed Shixian Wang and 3rd seeded Yihan Wang of China have however got through to the next round.

In the men's singles, the Indian challenge came to an end, as the lone Indian in the fray, Ajay Jayaram lost to 5th seed Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark by a score of 22-24, 12-21. Inspite of Ajay's first round loss at the tournament, the silver lining was the Ajay's tough fight in the first game against a top world class player.

Ajay Jayaram had earlier won his way through the qualifying rounds of the Indonesian Open-2011 defeating Arif Ramadhan of Indonesia, and Joachim Persson of Denmark enroute to making his way to the first round of the main draw.

In the men's doubles, the Indian pair of Rupesh Kumar & Sanave Thomas could not get past the first round hurdle losing to the England pair of Anthony Clark & Chris Langridge 21-18, 17-21, 16-21.
