Gayatri Vartak

Gayatri Vartak took to badminton at the age of 12, when she started practising at the PDMBA (Pune District Metropolitan Badminton Association). Gayatri also had a keen interest in swimming, and was a national level swimmer in her school days.

Gayatri Vartak started her badminton training in the WIE Complex of Pune under Ashwin Humnabadkar and then moved on to Bangalore to the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy where she has been practicing under the guidance of eminent coaches Hemant Hardikar, Vimal Kumar & Prakash Padukone. Gayatri devotes around 6 hours everyday for badminton practice.

Notable Achievements:

2007:
Gayatri was a Quarter-finalist at the Senior National Badminton championships in Goa.

She was a semi-finalist at the All-India Senior Ranking tournament at Pune & at the Canara bank All-India
Senior ranking tournament at Bangalore.

Gayatri reached the semi-finals of the Welsh Open International badminton tournament in Cardiff. In the
semis, Gayatri lost to the eventual winner and world no. 53 Gill Pittard of England 16-21,9-21

2010:
Gayatri Vartak represented India at the Uber Cup preliminaries in Thailand.
Gayatri was a semi-finalist at the Senior Nationals at Guwahati.
