Nationals at Rohtak: A day of sensational upsets

It was a day of sensational upsets at the National Badminton Championships being held at Rohtak, in Haryana. Top players were seen struggling to win, and the tournament seedings were going for a toss (as expected)

Major upsets:

Trupti loses to Arundhati Pantawane

The major upset of the day, was Arundhati Pantawane's win over the womens singles defending champion Trupti Murgunde. Nagpur girl Arundhati who is just 21 years of age, defeated Trupti in only 31 minutes with the scoreline reading 21-18, 21-12.
This win over Trupti re-affirmed Arundhati as a very strong title contender and proved that her close win over Aditi Mutatkar earlier in this week was not just a flash in the pan.

B. Sai Praneeth gets past Anup Sridhar
It took just 31 minutes for National Junior champion Sai Praneeth to defeat the 2nd seeded Anup Sridhar 21-17, 21-14. Praneeth had also defeated Arvind Bhat in the team championship held earlier this week.
